Description

These brain science cups come in a pair. Each one is unique as they are individually hand cast, carved and glazed. The neuronal designs have branching dendrites and are carved into the surface of the cups. Each cup is a slightly different size and glazed in a seductive aqua-green on the outside and white on the inside. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. They are wonderful for any beverage, wine, coffee, tea…and also, simply as a decorative art object.

This line is inspired by the idea that sensing and interacting with objects changes the structure and processing of our minds. The universe of neuronal activity inside each being is uniquely based and shaped on our individual experiences.

In keeping with the mindful, hands-on exchange of energy between maker and material, I am crafting a line of intimately utilitarian items from clay. My aim is that the elemental origins of the materials, along with the process-rich studio tradition of art-making (each piece is meticulously hand cast, carved and glazed) will exchange the energetic comforts and queries of maker and material with the beholder.
